Common Questions
Whether you are interested in hiring a van or truck, your only requirement is a clean driving licence that covers the vehicle you will be hiring.
Don’t be too concerned if you have points on your driving licence. Brierley Hill Self Drive vans are still available if you have six points or less.
You must have held your driving licence for a period not less than one year.
Please note: You must bring your driving licence with you when you collect your vehicle
If you wish to extend your van rental after the current hire period expires, we will do our best to help.

The minimum age to hire a vehicle is 25 years and will require a full drivers license held for a minimum of 12 months (endorsements and restrictions permitting).
When hiring a vehicle you will be required to provide a copy of a utility bill or bank statement dated within the last three months.
Hirers will be asked to state what purpose the vehicle is being used for. This is part of our Insurance requirement.
Non EU driving licences may require an International Driver Licence for translation. Therefore, Non EU driving Licence holders would be advised to check their eligibility to drive in the UK as certain restrictions may apply if they have been resident in the UK for more than 12 months. If in doubt, advice is available at GOV.UK website.
All rental prices are subject to VAT at current standard rates. At Brierley Hill Self Drive there are no hidden extras and no extra mileage charges. Rates for all our vehicles include comprehensive insurance.
This is subject to an insurance excess surcharge which will be charged in the event of an insurance claim and which may be waived by payment of a small extra cost Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) at the time of hire.
