Whether you are interested in hiring a van or truck, your only requirement is a clean driving licence that covers the vehicle you will be hiring.
Don’t be too concerned if you have points on your driving licence. Brierley Hill Self Drive vans are still available if you have six points or less.
You must have held your driving licence for a period not less than one year.
Please note: You must bring your driving licence with you when you collect your vehicle

Vehicles are for the UK MAINLAND USE ONLY.
Rental deposits may vary depending on the type of vehicle you wish to hire. The deposits and rental charges are paid at the time of hire so if you are unsure, we would advise you to call us and check before picking up the vehicle.
Please be aware that drivers with endorsements and/or out-of-area addresses may be subject to larger deposits. Your refund will be repaid on return of the vehicle, provided the vehicle is returned within the hire period / is full of fuel / there are no insurance excess claims. Any additional charges will be deducted from the deposit.
The minimum age to hire a vehicle is 21 years and will require a full drivers license held for a minimum of 12 months (endorsements and restrictions permitting).
When hiring a vehicle you will be required to provide a copy of a utility bill or bank statement dated within the last three months.
Hirers will be asked to state what purpose the vehicle is being used for. This is part of our Insurance requirement.
Non EU driving licences may require an International Driver Licence for translation. Therefore, Non EU driving Licence holders would be advised to check their eligibility to drive in the UK as certain restrictions may apply if they have been resident in the UK for more than 12 months. If in doubt, advice is available aHirers will be asked for what the vehicle is being used for. This is part of our Insurance requirement.

All rental prices are subject to VAT at current standard rates. At Brierley Hill Self Drive there are no hidden extras and our mileage policy is simple. We have a standard 200 mile allowance on all vehicles. Mileage over this amount will be charged at 25p per mile and is payable when the vehicle is returned. Rates for all our vehicles include comprehensive insurance.
This is subject to an insurance excess surcharge which will be charged in the event of an insurance claim and which may be waived by payment of a small extra cost Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) at the time of hire.
Credit / debit card. All major credit and debit cards are welcome, including Visa Cards, MasterCard. Outstanding payments are taken from credit or debit cards.
This includes all outstanding balances to the hire agreement and any charges received after the hire has ended, e.g. Fines, penalties, congestion charges etc. and the administration thereof.
Yes. Additional drivers can be added at an additional cost. This cost will be confirmed at time of booking as can vary.
Additional drivers are required to attend in person at the time of hire and produce their Driving Licence and ID as per main driver. Please contact us in advance with any other queries.
